Cee – Comin’ Home (Official Video)

Peace y’all,

Is it warming up where y’all are at? Coz Montreal isn’t really playing ball with the whole Spring thing. So TMF felt we should heat it up a bit and bring back the summer vibes courtesy of Cee‘s latest music video.

Comin’ Home‘ was shot in locations around Toronto in the summer of 2012 with Dave Dunville and J Mitchel Reed. The track is lifted from Cee’s ‘The Indie Experiment Volume 1′ mixtape, as his ode to both his homes (Melbourne and Toronto) over City & Colour’s haunting gem of a tune.

Cee speaks on his feelings after selling everything he owned to move to Canada to pursue his dreams with his music. Much love to Josh Telfer, Clem Ryan, Notion and of course Tiffany Alexis for all their help with the filming of the video, and huge props to editor Andrew Howart for putting it all together.

We decided to drop the video on the eve of Cee‘s birthday, so we hope y’all can help him celebrate (today!)!

Cee – The Indie Experiment Volume 2

Yes, bitches! Volume 2 out this.

For those who ain’t know, this is the second volume of a three volume series of mixtapes where I try to do something that I haven’t heard anyone else do; rap over indie rock/electro/dubstep/alternative/folk/indie songs, while leaving the original tune intact and integrating my rhymes with the theme of the tracks. It’s also my first ever solo mixtape release, so I hope y’all dig it.

Download it free from my Bandcamp page. And tell your mates.

The first volume dropped on my 31st birthday, April 10th 2012. This volume dropped June 10th and Volume 3 drops August 10th.

This one has a strong spiritual/political lean, subjects I’m quite passionate about but haven’t had a lot of opportunities to speak on them in my music. It feels awesome to let this shit out, so I think I’ll be on this vibe for a while.

HUGE shouts once again to everyone who made this happen: Notion (engineering, mixing, mastering), Josh Telfer (design, photography, making my logo out of illegal substances), and my gorgeous girlfriend Tiffany Alexis (cover model, partner in winning).

What Cee be on… Ellie Goulding

I love British music. So the homegirl put me onto Miss Goulding last weekend, and goddamn, I’ve been obsessed ever since. I guess you could describe her style as indie-pop, but it’s just freakin’ dope music.

I’ve selected a bunch of her songs that pretty much summarise what she does, from her singles to live acoustic numbers and the incredible Jakwob remixes. Peep game.

Angus & Julia Stone – Hold On (video)

I’m a huge fan of old Angus and Julia, so I was stoked to hear they’d dropped another video from their latest, immaculate album ‘Down The Way’ in ‘Hold On’. This is a cool ass clip. Looks awesome in HD. Can’t wait to see these guys in Melbourne before we jet.

What Cee be on… City and Colour

I’m ALL about this dude right now (pause). After being put onto City & Colour earlier this year, I’d been a casual fan. My interest grew after discovering that Canadian Dallas Green, who essentially is City & Colour (based off his name – Dallas, City. Green, Colour. Genius), is also the singer for hardcore group Alexisonfire.

I found that even though I’m currently in possession of more music than I can cope with, I kept going back to City & Colour; the warm, heartfelt and often dark songs just resonated with me. Then this weekend I learned a bunch of the songs on guitar and now I’m officially obsessed. I even ordered a tshirt from their website.

Anyway, check the videos for two of my favourite City & Colour songs. The first is ‘Coming Home’, from his debut ‘Somtimes’, and the second is ‘Sleeping Sickness’ from the ‘Bring Me Your Love’ album. Enjoy.

What Cee be on… Yellow Brick Road

This is my favourite song in the world right now, has been for a few months. The melody is simple, and Angus doesn’t have the greatest of voices, but the sweet and honest lyrics, the haunting guitar parts and extended outro all come together to make a magical piece of music. This is a live performance in Sydney earlier this year.

Look out for my 50 bar verse over this joint, coming soon…

Travis McCoy feat Bruno Mars – Billionaire (live and acoustic video)

Sooooo…I’m obsessed with this joint right now. Here’s the acoustic version. Bruno is amazing. Hook of the year thus far…right alongside ‘Airplanes’ from B.o.B and Hayley Williams of Paramore.

What Cee be on…Angus and Julia Stone

So I’m ABOUT folky, acoustic music these days, especially since I started playing guitar again. I only discovered Angus & Julia Stone recently, and these guys are incredible. Check the videos below, which span most of their projects (in chronological order). Bliss N Eso fans might recognise ‘Paper Aeroplane’, which was sampled on their cut ‘Eye Of The Storm’.

Take U To Da Movies [ Bangs ] – Acoustic cover by Jimmy Hunt

Wow. So I get this request to add a video response to my Bangs live performance video. And it says this:

“I was absolutely blown away the first time I heard Bangs sing ‘Take U To Da Movies’. If you haven’t heard the original, check it out before watching my video. The beat is amazing, and the guy’s flow is so natural and so deep. I just had to do a cover of it, and I hope I did the song justice.”

I was like, is this muhfucker serious? So I checked it out and it’s GOOD!!! I never thought Bangs could be this soulful.

Kina Grannis

Yeah, so I’m in love.

The homie on Facebook just posted about this wonderful young lady and I’m flabbergasted. Her voice kills me. Check out Kina Grannis’ YouTube channel for more amazingness, but peep her versions of some of my favourite songs ever below. Kills them all. I have no words.
