The Movement Fam Presents The Valentine’s Day Mixtape Volume 5: Bitches Love Mixtapes

Peace our good people,

Hope everyone is living good. The groundhog said that spring is on the way, and here in Montreal, it most definitely looks to be so. And seeing as February is the month of love, there’s no better time to get in the mood than right… now.

We released the very first volume of The Valentine’s Day Mixtape back in 2009, so in 2013, The Movement Fam Presents The Valentine’s Day Mixtape Volume 5: Bitches Love Mixtapes. We figured that this year, we’ll drop the tape a few days before Valentine’s Day to give y’all some time to download it, vibe with it and get it ready for the big day.

For this volume, we included one exclusive track from Cee & Bekah, featuring the homies from Melbourne, A-Diction, as well as a brand new, all French Craig Bruce interlude. As per usual, the cover was handpainted by the homie Glen, all additional artwork, mixing, mastering and engineering was handled to perfection by Notion, while I (Cee) blended the mix, and curated the song selection with my wifey Tiffany Alexis. So it really was a family affair. And it was the first time we’d completed a Valentine’s Day Mixtape between Toronto and Montreal.

This is a free download, so go ‘head and cop the tape; bloggers, any exposure or love you can give us is immensely appreciated. Share it, show your partner and enjoy!

FlamesYall – PromNight x Cee x Worgie x Daryl S. Tattoo

I’ve done a couple joints with the homie outta the UK, FlamesYall. He hit me with a joint for his new sex-themed EP, and I done fucked it up by not adhering to the topic. This kinda worked to our advantage, as now we have a single and a feature on the HipHopSpeakEasy.com Hurricane Sandy mixtape.

Take a listen to the tune on FlamesYall’s SoundCloud, and huge shouts to Worgie and Daryl S. Tattoo for the ridiculously dope guitar, and Notion for the mix/extra production. We got a joint on our hands, here…

Cee – Babylon Wailin’

Ah yeah. Time for October’s new goddamn joint.

‘ATLiens’ is one of my favourite albums of all time, so I cut up the two illest joints from it and made them into a new one. This is the first track I’ve recorded in my new studio in Montreal, and it was dope to be able to speak on some of the shit I’ve been dealing with in the move from TO to MTL.

Cee – Don’t Fuck With My Money x Penguin Prison

New joint for August, sons! (Yeah it’s late, I know)

Penguin Prison opened for Miike Snow in Toronto recently, and I LOVED this jam. I got seriously fucked over by my job around the same time, so this song was perfect to let all that shit out on. Enjoy.

As usual, mix by Notion, art by Believe Dreams Design Life.

Cee – The Indie Experiment Volume 3

Yeah, son. So in the span of four months, I managed to drop three volumes of my debut mixtape series and create a piece of art with both the music and the visuals that were solely conceived of by myself (of course with the help of Nosh [mixing/mastering], Josh [photography/art] and Tiff [model/support] to make it happen). I’m really proud of this shit. I’ve only ever been in groups since I started recording and performing 10 years ago (goddamn, time flies eh), so to go solo was a huge step for me.

This third and final volume sees the culmination of the 27 songs of the series, completing The Indie Experiment. There’s a bit of a mix of tunes on this one; about my girl, my city, my art, my stories, some shit talking, and some truth. I think it caps it off nicely.

However y’all feel about this project, it was an experiment that I’m glad I saw through to the end. The response has been much stronger than I ever thought it would be, so I dare say it might inspire my future projects.

Go grab volumes 1 and 2 if y’all haven’t already, and cop volume 3 from www.ceetmf.com. Please hit me with any thoughts, comments, feedback, hate, etc. Love y’all.

Cee – Broads x Notion x Miguel | Notion – Misunderstood

Yup, late again on these posts. But I just moved to another province so that’s my excuse this month.

Aight so I dropped a joint with my brother Notion last month over this cut that Miguel released on his ‘Art Dealer Chic Volume 2′ mixtape called ‘Broads’. He left the verses open so we just went in. The quality of the beat was pretty shithouse, so Nosh did what he could with it. Good for a laugh, anyway. Cop it free from www.ceetmf.com, cunts.

And Nosh decided to recreate Lil’ Wayne’s ‘Misunderstood‘ beat himself and spit some serious bars over it. I love what he did here. Swag is stupid. Cop it free from www.notionbaby.com, fuckers.

Cee – The Indie Experiment Volume 2

Yes, bitches! Volume 2 out this.

For those who ain’t know, this is the second volume of a three volume series of mixtapes where I try to do something that I haven’t heard anyone else do; rap over indie rock/electro/dubstep/alternative/folk/indie songs, while leaving the original tune intact and integrating my rhymes with the theme of the tracks. It’s also my first ever solo mixtape release, so I hope y’all dig it.

Download it free from my Bandcamp page. And tell your mates.

The first volume dropped on my 31st birthday, April 10th 2012. This volume dropped June 10th and Volume 3 drops August 10th.

This one has a strong spiritual/political lean, subjects I’m quite passionate about but haven’t had a lot of opportunities to speak on them in my music. It feels awesome to let this shit out, so I think I’ll be on this vibe for a while.

HUGE shouts once again to everyone who made this happen: Notion (engineering, mixing, mastering), Josh Telfer (design, photography, making my logo out of illegal substances), and my gorgeous girlfriend Tiffany Alexis (cover model, partner in winning).

Cee Joints – April x May x June

Of course, even though the blog has been out of action, the hustle hasn’t quit.

June was the last month of my monthly cuts leaking from ‘The Indie Experiment’ series, so get ready for some fresh shit come July.

April was all about Passion Pit. ‘Sleepyhead’ was the cut, a little more BPMs for that ass.

Cee - Sleepyhead x Passion Pit

May was all about Lana. Who hasn’t dropped a fucking Lana track? Had to be done, though. ‘Born To Die’ is on some shit. Shouts to my lady.

Cee - Born To Die x Lana Del Rey

And for June, I had to bring the crew out. I haven’t dropped a cut with a rap feature this year, so I got my brother Notion and my BFAM Tommy Gunnz on deck for ‘Fleur Blanche’, my trip hop moment. One of my faves songs the three of us have ever done.

Cee - Fleur Blanche x Notion x Tommy Gunnz x Örsten

Finally, I might as well include this puppy here. The Movement Fam haven’t dropped a crew track for a minute, so we decided to release this cut, ‘Clear Your Mind’, we recorded last year with the homie L.S. outta Barrie, Ontario, and producer S.T.T.R.E.S.S. outta North Carolina. This is some smooth, real shit, written when we were all going through some tough times. It’s not available for free download, as we’re gonna chuck it on iTunes soon. Enjoy!

Cee – The Indie Experiment Volume 1

Sigh. Once again, my bad on the extremely delayed post…

This is the first volume of a three volume series of mixtapes where I try to do something that I haven’t heard anyone else do; rap over indie rock/electro/dubstep/alternative/folk/indie songs, while leaving the original tune intact and integrating my rhymes with the theme of the tracks. It’s also my first ever solo mixtape release, so I hope y’all dig it.

Download it free from my Bandcamp page. And tell your mates.

The first volume dropped on my 31st birthday, April 10th 2012. The next two volumes will drop on June 10th and August 10th, respectively.

HUGE shouts to everyone who made this happen: Notion (engineering, mixing, mastering), Josh Telfer (design, drawing my logo on a big ass mirror with lipstick), Iskander Ben Amor (photography), and my gorgeous girlfriend Tiffany Alexis (cover model, partner in winning).

The Valentine’s Day Mixtape Volume 4: The Panty Dropper

Wow. This is just silly. Posting this almost a month after it dropped. I fucking suck. If anyone wants to help the Fam out with blogging, holla. Coz I clearly lost all concept of time.

For the fourth year running, Notion and I put together (with the assistance of my lovely girlfriend Tiffany on the song selection tip) a solid collection of lesser known, soulful, smooth as fuck tunes to soundtrack the most romantic day of the year.

Strangely enough, it seemed Volume 3 saw a decent increase in downloads right before the day itself, so hopefully folks will get on this one before Valentine’s Day 2013 (if the world hasn’t ended by then).

Grab it free from The Movement Fam Bandcamp anyway; it’s a really great collection of music, regardless of the theme. There’s two exclusive cuts this year, both from Cee & Bekah. The first is ‘Close To Mine’, over Trey Songz’ ‘Wonder Woman’, and the other joint is actually an unofficial remix of Tony Williams’ single ‘Dreaming Of Your Love’ (remixed by Kiri Kanes), which Tony himself actually asked us to do. Tony is Kanye West’s cousin by the way, so it was a big fuckin’ deal to us back in the day.
