Notion – Young & Crazy

Oh yeah, son!

The kid Notion finally dropped his debut single ‘Young & Crazy’ on y’all! Produced by Sydney’s P.R, this is one of my fave tunes we’ve ever released, straight up.

It’s up on iTunes right now and it’s only $0.99 – bargain, eh. Maybe $1.69 in Australia. Bastards stay jackin’ up prices.

But yo, y’all can listen to it on Notion’s SoundCloud page while it’s downloading from iTunes.

Support The Fam, we’re really excited about this release and we hope you enjoy the tune!

The Movement Fam – Smooth It Out (single)

Man, my blog game is weak right now. My bad. Life is slowly starting to balance out.

So after close to two years of getting this thing together, we are announcing the release of a new single from The Movement Fam! ‘Smooth It Out’ is an ode to everything 420; essentially a soul’d out smokers anthem. The tune is produced by VA’s Krohme, who has worked with the likes of Ras Kass (The Game dis), Shyhiem, Obie Trice, MF Grimm, Ill Bill, Kool G Rap, Royce Da 5’9″, Cappadonna, Killah Priest and more.

The full song, along with the acapella and instrumental for any folks out there who want to remix the cut, is available now on iTunes (Zune too)! Head over, take a listen and cop the tune!

Shouts to Krohme for rocking with us on this, and big ups to all the folks who copped the single already, which seems to be getting a great response with little to no promotion, so we’re vibed.

Phrase – Never Fade (promo video)

So Big Phrase is back, after an extremely successful sophomore album and national tour from his ‘Clockwork’ album.

‘Never Fade’ is the first single off the new album (as yet untitled, or at least the title hasn’t been announced), written and produced by Phrase himself. I dig the new direction, personally, possibly coz I’m a huge indie rock fan and I think Phrase is now making ‘music’ (as opposed to putting it in a genre box), but he just happens to rap (which is exactly how I feel about my own music – nothing worse than having to tell someone I rap these days lol).

Anyway, what do y’all think?

Notion – On The Corner of Notion & 9th: A Tribute To 9th Wonder

And it’s here!

After around a year or so in the making, Notion has finally dropped his third solo mixtape, ‘On The Corner of Notion & 9th: A Tribute To 9th Wonder’. This 18 track opus sees Notion flex his skills entirely over various 9th Wonder productions from throughout his career, and the chemistry is palpable. The tape is proudly presented by The Movement Fam, Kevin Nottingham.com, Hip Hop Update.com and Peoples Republic of Clothing – we can’t thank y’all enough for all your help and support with this project.

Y’all would have caught the first two leaks from the project, ‘Mastermind’ and ‘Honey’ featuring Cee & Bekah, but y’all might also remember ‘Don’t Rush Me’ from the HiPNOTT Records compilation in early 2009.

Rolling through to help out Nosh on vocal duties are New Zealand’s KB, Whisper, Theory, Micnificent and of course, Bekah, Tommy Gunnz and Cee.

You can download Notion’s ‘On The Corner of Notion & 9th: A Tribute To 9th Wonder’ FREE right now! Spread the word!

Mista Encore – The World Is Yours (official video)

Mista Encore, a producer from Long Branch, NJ, hit me up with this video dude just shot for the first single off his latest LP, ‘Elevator Music’, which you can grab and stream on Mista Encore’s website.

Not only a talented beatsmith, knocking out 10 of the 14 beats on ‘Elevator Music’, but Mista Encore is an MC, and y’all can check the skills on the video above for ‘The World Is Yours’. Smoothly shot, the simple black and white imagery compliment the positive, uplifting lyrics.

Definitely check this cat out, an up and comer with promise.

Kevin Nottingham Presents The Movement Fam Remix Album

Kevin Nottingham Presents The Movement Fam Remix Album

It’s finally here!!!!!

After maybe 6 months in the making, Kevin Nottingham Presents The Movement Fam Remix Album is in the building.

For those who aren’t familiar with this, producers from around the world were able to download 12 acapellas from Notion‘s World Domi-NoTiOn and Cee & Bekah‘s The Soul Movement Volume 2 mixtapes, and submit remixes for this project. We had well over 100 remixes submitted, which blew our mind.

We ended up including remixes from producers from all over the planet, including Hungary, Belgium, USA, Denmark and Australia. We worldwide, baby! And if any producers out there wanna remix our songs for the hell of it (a couple cats have hit me up already about it), you can still download the acapellas from the original Kevin Nottingham Movement Fam Remix contest page.

Big ups to ALL the producers who submitted remixes, there a lot of fire and it made our job pretty hard! I can’t thank Kev enough, though. Dude held us down when it got difficult for a bit there, never gave up, and we got this one over the line. Plus it’s a hot ass album!

My apologies to Isbjerg for misspelling your name, homie!! Shit, my bad! And HUGE props to Notion for lacing the artwork! Boom!

MIDIMarc…dope beats and shit

Beats by MIDIMarc

If I haven’t said it already, Happy New Year, blog world. I can’t wait for this year to kick off…a lot of exciting shit is on the cards and I just wanna see how it pans out. Hope y’all have a great year planned, too.

Anyways, I thought I’d spread the word about our homie outta South Carolina, producer extraordinaire MIDIMarc.

When we were in New York with his manager, J. Master, dude played us some of Marc’s beats and we were mad impressed. And now that Marc has submitted a gang of remixes for our remix contest on Kevin Nottingham’s blog (which, by the way, is technically closed but we’re still taking remixes – so producers, click the link and get submitting!), we’re mad excited about working with Marc more for our upcoming projects this year.

Head over to his blog, Diary of a Mad Black Beatmaker, and check out some of his work.

Watch producer extraordinaire, Exile, tap out his own version of ‘A Milli’ on the MPC (2000, nonetheless). Dude is incredible. Courtesy of Jonathan Kim, Blu’s manager, and shouts to Mick Boogie’s blog (Press Play Fashion Forward), where I stumbled upon it.
