Jordan dissed Chamillionaire

Jordan dissed Chamillionaire

First the Hall of Fame acceptance speech, now this. I knew he wasn't a saint, but the amount of stuff coming out right now about how of a dick Michael Jordan is in real life is kind of surprising. How come nobody said anything earlier?

ESPN's "The Sports Guy" Bill Simmons, probably my favourite sports writer ever, has a chapter in his upcoming book about the discrepancy between Jordan's real life personality and his public relations persona. Book comes out October 27th and I've got that shit on pre-order. Can't wait.

Toyota Country Border Security

Let me start off by saying I hate that bloody Border Security show on TV. The fact that it rates so highly is a testament to a lot of the prejudices in this country that nobody is willing to acknowledge but everyone (read: the media) is happy to exploit.

Anyway, peep this for a bit of comedy gold. Is it good that the ads are better than the shows sometimes?

Ill Doctrine and the Little Hater

Thrizz put me onto J Smooth @ Ill Doctrine a while back, but I've only been really on this shit recently. This video is great - anyone doing any sort of creative process will be able to relate, which is why I felt it relevant to post.

As artists, we all go through the same thing as J is describing. Right now, we're working on 'The Soul Movement Volume 3' and I really feel for Notion, because although he didn't create the music (except for feature verses here and there), he's had to mix it and listen to it over and over and over, which should destroy all positive feelings towards the music but he seems to dig it even more. For myself, I just can't listen to my own music too much or I get over it real quick. When it's first recorded or written, hell yeah, I love to gauge where it's at, if it's any good, etc. But I gotta cut it out or I just don't wanna hear it again. By the time we finish this mixtape, I won't be able to listen to it for a hot minute.

Anyway, check out the video and hit up Ill Doctrine.com for more awesomeness.

So I was trying to learn how to play 'Teach You A Lesson' by Robin Thicke on guitar via YouTube. You know you need to bust out the guitar when you got someone over and you may as well have something decent to play, I don't even plan on learning the whole song..lol

So I saw a whole bunch fan vids and different versions etc, then found this kid rapping. Billie Shakes (click his name to check out his YouTube channel), he's good but dude's just 14! Only does one verse tho'.

Check out the video:

Check out his YouTube channel, lol @ his line in the 'Beautiful Woman' track, "even though you kinda stuck up like a tampon". Gold.

NASA Moon Bombing - Rap News

On October 9th, the Earth will carry out its first attack on a neighbouring planet by bombing the moon ...in the name of SCIENCE! Is this a worthy experiment to aid the human race with its energy and water crisis, or a crass attempt to save money and perpetuate humankind's brutal behaviour (or an NWO NASA Roswell Illuminati conspiracy?) Explore the issues with Juice Media's RAP NEWS.

Mark Finds His Goddess

Looks like the creepiest dude on the internet recently found his true love, or his "goddess" as he calls her. Great news though, he's accepting backup applications! Who said romance was dead?

What an, um, lady killer.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Fair Trade

And it got me thinking; do we care about this?

I remember hearing this one speaker talk about how shareholders reacted to the news that a particular company would donate funds to victims of the tsunami in Asia. Great, a very socially responsible thing to do. However, the reaction was less than favorable.

How many of those who reacted that were less than impressed knew that there maybe a chance that a portion of their dividends could end up being doled out as aid dollars would also choose to buy fair trade coffee from oligopolistic fast food chains who use their buying power to bully 3rd world nations into changing their corporate strategy by forcing them not to use slave labour, and then hold them to a fixed price unit of product? (I am a big fan of not using slave labour, I will accept a price rise in a particular good, as long as you can show me that it's going to make a real difference to that regions economy or standard of education and or living.)

Fair trade

In the Hip Hop ages it has now come to a point more of bling than substance. "I went to Jacob with 25 thou, you went with 2500 WOW"

I'm fan of 'Ye, but how many others will just think, 'Man I gotta get me to the best jeweler from Antwerp or Gent & cop the biggest bit of ice I can fit on a ring' etc. The "Jacob's" and the like can never honestly say they don't deal in conflict diamonds. If they do, strap 'em to a polygraph. Every shop in the world has conflict diamonds. It's the trade they deal in. Accept it, or don't buy diamonds!

I digress though...

The point I'm trying to make is consumers are quick to buy a good something with a free trade sticker on it or purchase a carbon offset this or that, but few of us take time to find out what if any help will this be of to anyone but the companies bottom line. I'm sad to say free trade or fair trade are just marketing buzz words used to manipulate us into buying a little piece good will or consciousness for our souls...

Bit of a throwback. The homies and I were discussing said commercial and I couldn't remember it. You might. Funny as shit though. Word to 'gays and intravenous drug users'. Oh and it was one year too early :)

RAAAAAAAANDY!

If you're in Canada or the USA, you're lucky enough to be able to see Judd Apatow's new movie Funny People on July 31st. Those of us in Australia need to wait until September 10th... not cool.

Funny People is Judd Apatow's third film, his previous ones being the hilarious "The 40 Year Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up" - two of the funniest in this new era of comedy films. It stars Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Eric Bana... but this post is all about Aziz Ansari.

Aziz plays Randy, a stand-up comedian on the rise. The team behind the film have put out three viral videos so far to introduce us all to Raaaaaaaandy (that's 8 A's). They are classic. Watch below.
