Twenty seventeen is a year of experimentation for Cee.
From touching on dark trap vibes to rootsy live instrumentation to driving soul beats, Cee has been dipping his fingers in a variety of musical waters in the first half of the year. In the sixth instalment of his monthly series, the Australian-born, Canadian-based MC took it back to his roots with the soulful, upbeat new single "What We Want".
Produced by, and featuring, frequent collaborator Myer Clarity, "What We Want" captures a Jackson 5-esque, "College Dropout" era Kanye vibe with both MCs delivering positive messages of their dreams, aspirations and plans, with a splash of side-eye.
For the past two years, Myer has been working on Cee's sophomore album, "Relentless", and they recently hit the studio in Toronto for a full week to finally record the project with some incredible musicians and guest vocalists. "What We Want" serves as a teaser of what to expect on the sample-free project, scheduled to drop in early 2018.
