Our people!

2013 has been an amazing year for The Movement Fam. We achieved more in these past twelve months than we did the last half a decade combined, and for that we've been blessed: Cee and Notion rocked a 15 date summer tour, including opening spots for legendary artists like Raekwon, Mos Def, Oddisee and Bliss N Eso; we released seven music videos, and shot four more (scheduled to drop in 2014); Cee & Dr. MaD dropped their collaborative EP 'Steps To The Peak' to critical acclaim and major college radio love; and we're wrapping up the year just how we started it - with something special from Notion.

The 'So Cold' video kicked off 2013 for The Fam in January, so it's only right that Notion comes through with his debut EP, 'Pride On My Cufflinks', to finish off the year proper-like.

Notion has been the quiet achiever of The Fam these past few years. His last release, 'On The Corner of Notion & 9th' mixtape back in 2010, really demonstrated Notion's growth as an artist and as an engineer, but he was yet to bless the people with an original project. Since then, he has spent countless hours in the studio mixing Cee's 'The Indie Experiment' mixtape series, along with the aforementioned 'Steps To The Peak' EP and focusing on his beatmaking, mixing and mastering techniques.

'Pride On My Cufflinks' is a milestone in the now 30 year old MC's career. The EP showcases both Notion's lyrical prowess and his production skills, all the while soaking up his rollercoaster ride experience of leaving his life in Australia and moving to Canada to pursue his music. The often dark yet sparse soundscapes make way for his potent, thought provoking narratives, garnished with equal parts optimism and concern for the future. Production comes courtesy of the USA's Remot (Kidz In The Hall, K-Os), Hungary's Diaz & Sima, Sydney's P.R and of course, Notion handles the vast majority of the work. The guestlist is as international as Notion himself; Ohio's Copywrite, Southern California's Gravity Christ, Australia's NeeQ, Toronto's iLLvibe and B3auu, the legendary DJ Grouch, and Notion's older brother Cee. This project is the perfect appetizer before Notion drops his debut LP, 'Heart On My Sleeve Music', in summer 2014.

'Pride On My Cufflinks' will be available for 'pay what you can' download via Notion's Bandcamp page on Friday, December 13th 2013 (the second TMF EP release on Friday the 13th in 2013!), however if you're receiving this newsletter then you can grab it now. Lucky you! The EP will be also available for sale on iTunes on Friday, December 13th. All support is appreciated!
