Manifesto iPhone App

Great to see the folks at Manifesto ain't playing on the technology tip. "This app is your one-stop guide to the Manifesto Festival of Community & Culture with details of all events, venues, maps, artists and other information.

The critically acclaimed Manifesto Festival Of Community & Culture features sevent days of incredible events across the city, culminating in a massive free outdoor concert at Yonge & Dundas Square in the heart of downtown Toronto. Growing to be arguably Canada’s largest hip hop festival in just three years, Manifesto brings together hundreds of artists & performers with thousands of attendees to showcase our city’s talented arts community and strengthen its foundations by building a collective sense of pride and possibility.

Through art exhibitions, dance competitions, workshops, free outdoor concerts, film screenings, networking opportunities, seminars, a pop-up arts market, and much more, Manifesto creates powerful and engaging experiences and provides opportunities for young artists to grow.

Manifesto’s point of origin lies in hip hop culture – in its spirit of ingenuity, raw creativity, and people power, but we strive to stay out of boxes and create a platform with the potential to act as a catalyst for cross-pollination, collaboration, and the growth of new forms in this city of wildly talented people."

Eternia back in TO

Eternia Returns to Toronto from themanifesto.ca on Vimeo.

Extremely glad we here for this right now. WHAT UP, E? Peep the info after the jump...

"You know that face you got, when a real gritty, rugged track came on and you just mean-mugged to the rhythm of the track? Like, you were feeling it, but you were feeling the rapper’s disgust for whatever it may be. Well, Eternia, one of hip hop’s elite female lyricists, can and will make any listener do that. Why? Because she’s mean on the mic, fierce with her poetry, and relentless with her assault.

Always representing Toronto to the fullest extent, E has enjoyed quite the successful year as herself and MoSS (producer) finally released their much anticipated album At Last on the legendary Fat Beats Records. The album has a variety of features ranging from Rah Digga, Rage (Lady of Rage), Jessica Kaya, Tona, Maestro, Joell Ortiz,Termanology, Reef The Lost Cauze, as well as Tiye Pheonix, Jean Grae and Ras Kass on remixes.

Not jaded by the critical acclaim and fan satisfaction, E stays real with it, “I do one thing, and one thing only, and that is emcee. That’s it.” And that she does well. Always on the cusp of being undoubtedly one of Toronto’s finest, Eternia has definitely garnered plenty of attention in her other hometown, New York. A scene where the underground is big, if not bigger, than the mainstream facet, Eternia knows the importance of showing T Dot talent to the world. “People weren’t watching Toronto until recently,” E says with Manifesto TV, “Our artists are different.” While Manifesto attempts to bridge the two hip hop communities of New York and Toronto together, Eternia is living proof that it is accomplishable. Catch her at the Manifesto Main Event, September 26th, 2010 at Dundas Square in Downtown Toronto."

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair (promo video)

Aight so I know jack all about this broad, but finally caught this promo video. As y'all know, the Smith family is pimpin' out their kids to the industry, and it's working; most likely coz of their Hollywood clout. So Willow, who is only 9 years old, got signed to Roc Nation and uses Rihanna's stylist, and below is the promo video for her single 'Whip My Hair', which is surprisingly catchy. Let's see how this one pans out...

Cee & Bekah - The Soul Movement Originals

It's here! The first full length original project to be released from The Movement Fam has arrived in the form of Cee & Bekah's 'The Soul Movement Originals', the Soul Hop duo's debut compilation album consisting of all the original productions from their three volume 'The Soul Movement' mixtape series.

With every song expertly digitally mastered by Notion at Illnote studios, the music has been given a breath of fresh air and sounds totally different to how it sounded on the mixtapes.

Featuring production from the likes of Styalz Fuego, Revelino, Whisper, Da-Phai and Mack Sitty, internationals G.C. (USA), Laudzbeatz (Brazil), KrisblaiR (Canada), Beat Chemist (Canada), Fly Cobb (USA), and cuts from The Movement Fam's own Infinite Archetype (aka Iyae) and Notion's production debut on 'Get It Right'.

Guests include The Movement Fam's Tommy Gunnz and Notion, Canada's soulstress Jessica Kaya, Professor Digi aka KrisblaiR, and special collaborations with The Hall of Justus' Cesar Comanche and California's The Understudies crew (recorded in Oakland).

'The Soul Movement Originals' really encapsulates the unique soulful sound that Cee & Bekah have created since their first release in 2007, and is a brilliant summary of both their past and future.

You can download the album now from Cee & Bekah's Bandcamp page for only $8.99, and hit us up for hard copies (will be available on our merch page very soon)!

Snoop and Swizz on Doggystyle 2

So this is some cool shit. Although I'm not really a fan of much of Swizz Beatz' latest work, dude seems to be everywhere and on damn near every record coming out. Including Snoop's sequel to his 1993 classic 'Doggystyle', called 'Doggystyle 2: The Doggumentary'. This is the album that got me into Hip Hop, so for Snoop to issue a sequel nearly 20 years later is a big call. Anyway, check the TwitVid the fellas knocked out in the lab.

With over 100K downloads for their first episode, there's no doubt that the following eps will kill it too. The guys played the Cee & Bekah single, 'Ain't No Mountain', which features Notion, from 'The Soul Movement Originals' which drops September 11th, and 'Livin' This Life', which is another Cee & Bekah cut with Theology3.

One thing that the game is missing is more dope female MCs, particularly in Australia. The homegirl Class A has been killin' the live scene lately, opening for a gang of internationals and rockin' at damn near every Hip Hop gig over the last 6 months. Miss A's solo album 'Me, Me, Me & Him: The Secret Life of a Receptionist' drops October 1st and the lead single, 'So Bad', is a certified heater. Mike Posner - Drug Dealer Girl starring Rosa Acosta (video)

The homie Iyae only put me onto Mike's stuff (pause) the other week, so when he shot me this video, I was impressed. Not only coz one of the hottest (and thickest) models going around today, Rosa Acosta, is all up in it, but coz it was a genuine viral video that make some noise.

Great tune, dope video, fresh concept, hot model. WIN for Mr Posner.
