Leading up to ‘If The City Had a Voice II’, Purpose has released 5 projects, toured the country and continued to grow both in and out of the studio as he built up his resume. This mixtape serves as a pre-cursor to his debut solo album 'Where It Starts' DROPPING LATE 2011

It is a collaborative effort with DJ Hacksaw (Pagen Elypsis, Battlehoggs, Train of Thought) and is made up of both original music and a handful of remixes. This release paints an avid picture of a new era in Australian Hip-Hop music and offers a peak into the future of an artist that has laid a solid foundation both locally and internationally.

It features Pagen Elypsis, Kilenm (USA), Arkaic (UK), Motive & Prime and features production by Purpose, Eslev & Zarkov.

What Cee Be On: Blue King Brown

I've been following these guys since I sparked up watching them open for Damian Marley in April 2006. Their debut 'Stand Up' was dope, and I've seen this band grow and travel around the world to become on the verge of making some serious noise with their latest LP 'Worldwize'. Check their latest two songs, both are fucking brilliant. Can't wait to see em on Saturday avo here at Canadian Music Week, and hopefully again next week in Texas.

Pharoahe Monch - Clap (One Day) (Extended Music Video)

Now THIS is sick. There ain't enough creativity in Hip Hop these days, and Pharoahe done raised the bar. The first single to his latest LP, 'W.A.R.', is 'Clap (One Day)' (produced by M-Phazes I believe), and this is the visuals for it. It's essentially a 10 minute mini-movie and it's brilliantly put together. Peep game.

Talib Kweli - How You Love Me (video)

Anything new from Kweli is worth checking out, and this is no exception. The video itself is kinda bland though. I like the contrast, but I've definitely seen better from the man. Tune is boss.

DUB INC live at Canadian Music Week

So Canadian Music Week kicks off on Tuesday, and I'm vibed as hell. I'll be hitting the panels and checking out a bunch of dope acts over the week, really looking forward to it. Much love to Fiona Bloom for bringing the French reggae band DUB INC down to rock this week. The guys will be playing this Thursday 10th March at Rivoli (Queen St W) and Friday 11th March at El Mocambo (Spadina Ave and College St). Don't miss it!

Gil Scott Heron & Jamie XX – ‘Running’ (video)

I love The XX. Jamie is a genius. They recently released a remix album, 'We're Here Now', and this is the single. The visuals are kinda average in my humble opinion, but the tune is LARGE.

Y'all know the homie Hezekiah been coming with the videos. Dude is on his grind something crazy. This is the latest video from the 'Conscious Porn' album, and probably my favourite tune from it too.

Asking Alexandria - A Prophecy (video)

Asking Alexandria are one of my favourite hardcore bands, and here's their latest video for 'A Prophecy' which is from their debut 'Stand Up And Scream'. Love the rain effect, looks sick on the cymbals.

Cee-Lo - Bright Lights, Bigger City Live on Kimmel

Cee-Lo is a fucking genius, straight up. Not only is his music nothing short of incredible, but the dude manages to put a full band together of stunning females and murk his live performance on Kimmel. The guitarist is stunning. So fucking cool.

EOM - Wonder Vision (free download)

The big homie EOM has always came with some real soulful beats. I've personally been a huge fan for quite some time (damn, we still need to work together homie!), so I was vibed when Deez hit me about this new project. I'ma let the good folks at Kevin Nottingham.com fill you in, but trust me, this is a really dope project, some amazing flips of some classic Stevie songs. Awesome tribute to the man. "Virginia producer EOM (Elements of Music) is releasing his newest instrumental journey today through KevinNottingham.com. The beatsmith, known for his work with Wax and last year’s single with Shad, pays tribute to the great Stevie Wonder in his opus entitled Wonder Vision.

Dr. Dre - I Need A Doctor ft Eminem & Skylar Grey (video)

I'm mad late on the song, but I think I damn near got the scoop on the video, seeing as it only has just over 5000 hits at the time of posting. This tune is boss. It's by far the best I've heard Em spit since he came back. He clearly wrote Dre's verse, it has the unmistakable flow, especially towards the end. That said, it could be more of a vehicle to push Em's career than Dre based on the content of Dre's verse. Take a listen and hit me with what you think. Is Em blowing his own horn a bit here?

What Cee Be On... Parkway Drive

I'm constantly discovering new music lately, and one of the genres I'm discovering the fastest is hardcore/metalcore. I'm a huge fan of this stuff, and especially these fellas from Byron Bay, Parkway Drive. I'm actually off to see them tonight, so there's no better time to post a few of their videos. The show is sold out already, and a couple thousand person venue, so it should be dope.

And now they've got their charity game on for the recent Christchurch earthquake. Which is super messed up by the way. HAARP. Look into it. And not the Muse album (as brilliant as that is).

The Foreign Exchange - Authenticity (video)

These cats are genius. The 'Authenticity' album is one of the best of 2010 for sure, and it's great to see this tune dropping as a single. Really interesting video. Wasn't sure where it was going but it's cool. Dope Phonte cameo, too. Though I can't help but think that it might confuse newer listeners when they see the white dude in the video. I thought it was Nicolay for a second at the start haha.

Kanye West ft Rihanna and Kid Cudi - All Of The Lights

I think I have epilepsy. This clip is weiiiiird. Hype Williams is on deck, and usually dude doesn't disappoint. It's a cool video, don't get me wrong, and Rihanna is SMOKIN'. Jesus. I need me a broad like that, I'd wife that in a second, WOLF GANG.

But the colours are a bit much and all the text rather than images is boring and annoying. It's honestly worth it for Rihanna alone. Go in.

Dope tune. Dope video. Dope MCs. Dope beat. Dope mixtape. On the real, 'Friday Night Lights' was prolly the illest tape of 2010. Cole is gonna be a fuckin' monster when the album drops. Love it.

The Valentine's Day Mixtape Volume 3: Third Time's A Charm

For the third year running, we're back with another installment in our Valentine's Day mixtape series, The Valentine's Day Mixtape Volume 3: Third Time's A Charm. We reckon this is our best volume yet. The tunes were carefully selected by myself, Notion, Infinite Archetype and Cyclops (thanks for the help, fellas!), and we really feel that it is a strong representation of The Fam's taste. We tried to choose tunes that would nicely soundtrack this year Valentine's Day for folks, as well as school y'all on some artists you may not have heard of, or at least expose y'all to some more obscure songs that you may not have come across.

We also included two exclusive tracks this year. Notion and TruStylz contributed their joint 'Still A Rose', a smooth, soulful cut that allows both MCs to shine, while Cee & Bekah hit y'all with 'Until Tonight', their version of Fab's 'Make Me Better', which was from The Soul Movement Volume 3 sessions and ended up here.
