An album a decade in the making, Montreal-via-Melbourne's Cee and Oakland-via-New Mexico's Po3 have delivered a soulful, authentic, introspective and head noddin' project in "Bad Habits".
Conceived in 2008 in the Bay Area after a collaboration, work begun on the project in early 2015. What started as a collaborative EP quickly turned into a 15 track, full-length album as Cee and Po3's creative synergy blossomed.

"Something Inside" was yet again helmed by King Richard Bastarache, who took care of 5 of the 6 videos from the project (all except the "Spaceman" lyric video). Notion and brother Ceehijacked the Queen Of The World barber shop in Montreal, alongside one of the dopest barbers in the city, Dave "Harder" Dumay, for a trippy, FX-heavy visual for the soulful, hard-hitting single.
The lead single, "Holdin' Hands", grabs you as soon as the snare hits with its heart-wrenching sample and Notion's personal, introspective lyrics where he tracks his musical journey and professes his gratitude for his fam and his supporters. Crafted by production team DiazSima based out of Budapest, Hungary, the single conveniently drops on Notion's birthday (November 8th) as a gift to both himself and fans of real, conscious Hip Hop.
Cee linked up with Philly resident Hezekiah (Bilal, The Roots, Talib Kweli) for this soulful head nodder. Shot in Mile End (the hipster HQ of Montreal) by long-time collaborator Richard Bastarache, the visuals for 'It Ain't Over' are simple yet fun, as the contagious energy of the two MCs perfectly compliments the positive vibes and strong message of the track.
The journey doesn't end here, however. Today, Thursday April 10th (Cee's birthday), his album is officially released worldwide. The first week sales contribute to the final chart figure, and as vague as iTunes are with their numbers, the team and our supporters are vigilantly checking to catch the highest position. So we still need all the support we can get! Give Cee the best birthday gift ever - a debut #1 charting album!
The first visual - and first single - from Cee's debut album 'This Is All I Know' is a dedication to the sustenance from the sky - 'Rainy Days'. The feelings of despair when the clouds turn grey can be overwhelming, but the fresh start given via the heavenly earth wash is what truly drives and inspires us. Produced by Sydney, Australia native P.R (Bone, Thugs N Harmony, Evidence, Blu, Onyx - and Notion's single 'Young & Crazy'), the tune features Montreal pioneer D-Shade (Shades Of Culture), and the chemistry between the two MCs is evident as they effortlessly trade verses across the soulful soundscape like they've known each other for years.
Oz Hip Hop is poppin' hard right now (pause). Three dope MCs came together, put their solo stuff on hold for a second, formed a group and knocked out a fresh album that's making some serious noise. The fellas took the time to chat with me about the album and other assorted rap singer related nonsense. Peep game.
What up peeps? Got a message from my homie Purpose about his new mixtape and album... Download 'Don't I Know It' for free!
My album is finished and ready to roll but in the meantime I will drop 'If The City Had A Voice pt. 3' late November!
It will be a free release as pt. 2 was.
Features: Prime, Motive & Production by myself, Answer, Rob Shaker (WA), Cam Bluff (QLD).
Thanks, homie! Cop that joint, folks...
The big homie Purpose outta Adelaide is about to drop the follow up to the first volume of his 'If The City Had A Voice' series, and if the below track is any indication, this shit is gonna be a banger. Peep the press release below, and watch out for the album later this year. There might even be a feature from Bekah...
Leading up to ‘If The City Had a Voice II’, Purpose has released 5 projects, toured the country and continued to grow both in and out of the studio as he built up his resume. This mixtape serves as a pre-cursor to his debut solo album 'Where It Starts' DROPPING LATE 2011
It is a collaborative effort with DJ Hacksaw (Pagen Elypsis, Battlehoggs, Train of Thought) and is made up of both original music and a handful of remixes. This release paints an avid picture of a new era in Australian Hip-Hop music and offers a peak into the future of an artist that has laid a solid foundation both locally and internationally.
It features Pagen Elypsis, Kilenm (USA), Arkaic (UK), Motive & Prime and features production by Purpose, Eslev & Zarkov.
The big homie Copywrite's latest LP, 'The Life And Times Of Peter Nelson', is a banger and here are the three visuals for the singles - 'Don't Kill Me', 'Tic Toc' and 'Shotgun'. Cop the album off iTunes!
It's live!
Finally, Cee & Bekah's debut compilation album, 'The Soul Movement Originals' is up and ready to go on iTunes!
We even included an iTunes-only bonus track - 'Livin' This Life' with Toronto's Theology3 and produced by Hustle Beats (Sydney by way of TO) for y'all.
Thanks for all the support thus far. You can still cop the album free via Cee & Bekah's Bandcamp page and donate to Ovarian Cancer Research, but if you want to support us on iTunes we'd love that too.
The homegirl Jessica Kaya has just dropped her latest music video for her slow burner 'Fake It'. Dope video, great song, mad intense and emotional, which is a strong point for Ms Kaya's voice. Bring on the album...
Y'all already know that Emilio is my favourite MC (alongside Phonte, of course), so I'm vibed as hell for his new project, 'Life Without Shame', presented by DJ Green Lantern again. I caught up with Emilio at A3C in Atlanta recently when he rocked some of the new joints from the tape, and it sounds fucking amazing.
Here's the video for the first single, 'To The Fullest' with vocalist Jaiden The Cure, directed by Court Dunn, who's incredible (we gotta work fam!). Not sure when the tape drops, but the pre-release party is tonight in Rochester, NY so it can't be far away...
The news that Travis Barker is making a solo album is awesome. This is the first single from the LP 'Give The Drummer Some', 'Jump Down', featuring The Cool Kids. Apparently there's a 3D version of this video too.
I've been in love with Ms Sullivan since I first her wail a couple years back. 'Fearless' was my favourite album of 2008, so I'm understandably excited about her new joint, 'Love Me Back', which drops November 2nd. Check the tracklisting and cover art below, and of course the video for the first single 'Holding You Down (Goin' In Circles)' above, which utilises the awesomeness that is Ms Blige.
Tracklisting: 1. Holding You Down (Goin’ In Circles) 2. 10 Seconds 3. Good Enough 4. Don’t Make Me Wait 5. Love You Long Time 6. Redemption 7. Excuse Me 8. U Get On My Nerves 9. Stuttering 10. In Vain 11. Famous 12. Luv Back
It's here! The first full length original project to be released from The Movement Fam has arrived in the form of Cee & Bekah's 'The Soul Movement Originals', the Soul Hop duo's debut compilation album consisting of all the original productions from their three volume 'The Soul Movement' mixtape series.
With every song expertly digitally mastered by Notion at Illnote studios, the music has been given a breath of fresh air and sounds totally different to how it sounded on the mixtapes.
Featuring production from the likes of Styalz Fuego, Revelino, Whisper, Da-Phai and Mack Sitty, internationals G.C. (USA), Laudzbeatz (Brazil), KrisblaiR (Canada), Beat Chemist (Canada), Fly Cobb (USA), and cuts from The Movement Fam's own Infinite Archetype (aka Iyae) and Notion's production debut on 'Get It Right'.
Guests include The Movement Fam's Tommy Gunnz and Notion, Canada's soulstress Jessica Kaya, Professor Digi aka KrisblaiR, and special collaborations with The Hall of Justus' Cesar Comanche and California's The Understudies crew (recorded in Oakland).
'The Soul Movement Originals' really encapsulates the unique soulful sound that Cee & Bekah have created since their first release in 2007, and is a brilliant summary of both their past and future.
You can download the album now from Cee & Bekah's Bandcamp page for only $8.99, and hit us up for hard copies (will be available on our merch page very soon)!
One thing that the game is missing is more dope female MCs, particularly in Australia. The homegirl Class A has been killin' the live scene lately, opening for a gang of internationals and rockin' at damn near every Hip Hop gig over the last 6 months. Miss A's solo album 'Me, Me, Me & Him: The Secret Life of a Receptionist' drops October 1st and the lead single, 'So Bad', is a certified heater. Check the video after the jump and holla at the girl on Twitter!
