Ahh yeah...what it does, folks?
For those who have been following The Fam over the past half a decade or so, y'all would have noticed that every February we drop a little mixtape dedicated to one of the most popular holidays of the year - Valentine's Day. It all started on our networking tour of Canada, USA and New Zealand in 2008, when Notion and the homie DJ Grain came up with the concept while riding around Atlanta. It was a lot of fun to put together, and we really tried to bring an eclectic, alternative mix of dope, smooth, amour-based music to soundtrack the day. And six years later, the series is still rolling strong.
The Valentine's Day Mixtape Volume 6: Dream, Believe, Turn Up was inspired by the slogan of last summer's Under The Influence Of Music tour (with Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, B.o.B., Trinidad James and Joey Bada$$) - something ridiculous and funny, yet current. We didn't even really include many tunes you can 'turn up' to, so hopefully the irony isn't lost.
In 2014, we've brought you an indie RnB focused edition, with left field inclusions like Banks, Kwabs, Erik Hassle, JMSN, Daley, Quadron and more. We usually throw in something from The Fam, so we hit y'all with 'Broads', a tongue-in-cheek collab from Cee and Notion.
Coinciding with the release of The Valentine's Day Mixtape Volume 6, Cee and Notion are joining Canadian legends Relic, Fresh Kils and Ghettosocks on the eastern leg of The Golden Tour! Kicking off in Montreal on Thursday February 13th - with special guest Hezekiah from Philadelphia - the tour will swing through Toronto (Big Ticket), London, ON and Guelph ON, before Rel, Kils and Socks hit the west coast. This is the first tour we've rocked since last summer, so we're super stoked - we'll have exclusive 1of1 custom TMF snapbacks and beanies available, as well as Digipak CDs of 'Steps To The Peak' and 'Pride On My Cufflinks'. Hope to see y'all there!
Montreal - Thursday February 13th, Blue Dog Motel - w/ special guest Hezekiah
Toronto - Friday February 14th, WrongBar - Big Ticket
