The big homie Day Diz over at Moser Music Group just passed the word that they dropped a 2010 mixtape with all the joints that MMG released throughout the year, along with some bonuses. And of course, Diz threw in our collab joint, 'Gimme That', from 'The Soul Movement Volume 2' back in 2008, which still bangs. Cop this, and Merry Christmas! These guys have gotta be one of my favourite indie bands right now. I was put onto The XX earlier this year, but only realised the awesomeness of these cats recently. Jamie (singer/songwriter) even did a joint with Gil Scott-Heron recently (see the very last video below), and they've remixed damn near everyone. Check out three videos from their self-titled debut album and do some research...
Mr. Boykins III is quite possibly my favourite artist right now. I caught dude rocking with Foreign Exchange at their CMJ showcase in New York a couple months back, and I immediately copped his album 'The Beauty Created' and subsequently became one of his biggest fans. Check the videos from the singles off the album. Incredible soul music, y'all.
Poetree is a talented producer out of the UK, and this cut, 'Musik Power' features the homie out of Atlanta, Headkrack, on vocals. Really dope joint, grab the album free from Poetree's site.
The big homie Copywrite's latest LP, 'The Life And Times Of Peter Nelson', is a banger and here are the three visuals for the singles - 'Don't Kill Me', 'Tic Toc' and 'Shotgun'. Cop the album off iTunes!
When I saw the email that David Dallas signed with Duck Down and is moving to the US, I was stoked. It proved that dudes from our side of the world can come to North America and make moves in Hip Hop. We're doing the exact same thing but on a smaller scale (for now), so this is hella inspiring. Check the vid after the jump...
This man is a god as far as Oz Hip Hop goes, and his long, long overdue solo album has been compared with 'Detox' as, until it, it seemed like it would never drop. The first single and video from the album 'For The Term Of His Natural Life' is called 'Omega Man', and it's exactly what you'd expect from Trem. Dark, haunting strings, neck snapping drums and multis out the ying yang. I really, really dig this joint. Peep the science below and watch this shit.
THE FIRST SINGLE FROM TREM ONE'S HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM "FOR THE TERM OF HIS NATURAL LIFE"
FILM CLIP EXECUTED BY JOSH DAVIS, HEATA, AND DISCOURSE.
BEAT BY PROWLA.
"We from a lost land, where the clock's hands is stopped, before the rot set in, before they shot Scott La Rock, before the shops stocked rap in a section called urban, and every third person's thinking they're word surgeons."
If one man in Australia embodies the mantra of quality over quantity, it's Melbourne MC and producer Trem One. His decade-long discography encompasses two sought after white label 12"s, two releases with his crew Lyrical Commission, production, raps and oversight on fellow commissioner Brad Strut's solo releases and a small handful of carefully selected guest verses and production credits. This austerity, combined with the precision of his astute lyricism and economical production has given mythical status to his long-promised, elusive solo album.
Representing the increasingly rare school of hip hop that never lost focus on the art of tightly woundwordplay and devious multisyllabic rhyme schemes, Trem finally unleashes the first salvo from his debut solo full length For the Term of His Natural Life. With exceptional lyrical craftsmanship on display across two murderous verses, the lead single "Omega Man" finds Trem the last man in a dehumanized, plasticized wasteland, accompanied only by raw, plaintive production from another elder statesman of Melbourne hip hop, Prowla. Recalling a time when the music's core building blocks were hallmarked by gritty simplicity and unrelenting verbal ballistics, "Omega Man" is vintage Trem. For aficionados of true school hip hop, it's a welcome entry in an almost flawless catalogue.
Packaged with a high quality AAA Alstyle t-shirt featuring the brand new Trem One logo, the strictly limited CD release with vocal, instrumental and acapella versions of "Omega Man" will be available from www.unkutrecordings.com and selected stores across Australia from December 17. The tracks will also be available from iTunes.
The video clip for "Omega Man" visualises the song in high definition subterranean cinema. Executed by Josh Davis and Full Clip (Heata & Discourse). For the Term of his Natural Life is due early 2011 on Unkut Recordings and will feature production from Trem, Prowla, Beat Butcha and more. www.unkutrecordings.com /

Recent World Wide events are capturing the attention of press and populous alike from the Haitian earthquake to Nicolas Sarkozy’s far right immigration policies in France all the way over to local Toronto politics where newly elected mayor Rob Ford is proposing unachievable tax cuts at the risk of eliminating social programming.
With all of this information at hand, what is the action plan of the everyday citizen? From projects to suburbs there needs to be a rallying cry that encompasses all of the raw emotion, debate and solutions that are so hard to interconnect. Music is that bridge!
With the first buzz song release WAKE UP mixed by Canada’s top Hip Hop engineer Michael ‘Blaow’ Plante, high powered Toronto Hip Hop collective FREEDOM WRITERS chart a path of action through art with a scathing take on local and International politics which will mobilize any free thinking Hip Hop aficionado, young and old. Consisting of local lights and Canadian stand outs Frankie Payne, Tona, Theo3, Adam Bomb, Mathematik, Progress and producer Big Sproxx, The FREEDOM WRITERS have accumulated a sizzling buzz that threatens to turn inferno in the coming months.
Look out for new songs dropping in the near future, cop the t-shirts, join the e mail list, spread the songs around to blogs, DJ’s and fans of boundary free Hip Hop music. Play it loud!
My new album When Inspiration Hits is my proudest moment as an artist thus far. It's entirely produced by Tokyo Cigar. The album is sponsored by hailmegatron.net and, of course, The Movement Fam. Guests include Notion, Tokyo Cigar Czarina, TheSeKondElement, Nasty Nyne, and Verbz.
I've ashamedly fronted on a lot of Aussie rock bands for years. One particular band being Something For Kate. Sure, I'd heard the name in the last decade or so but never paid attention. That was until we bumped into SFK's singer/songwriter Paul Dempsey in the elevator at CMJ in New York City a month or so ago. He took the time to chat to us, and we managed to catch him live twice while we were in town, and last weekend here in Toronto at the Drake. His solo album, 'Everything Is True', is fucking brilliant, to say the least. The main singles and videos from the album have the damn embed code disabled (from Paul's official page), so here are my two favourite songs from Paul anyway - 'Safety In Numbness' live in NYC, and new song 'We'll Never Work In This Town Again'. There's also a great video of Paul being interviewed in Melbourne about his songwriting process. Dude's a genius, straight up.
Aight folks, my apologies for the lack of posts. My laptop screen died (still dead at this point) so I'm borrowing Notion's joint when I can. I'ma keep the blog as updated as possible but please bare with us. So the homie Emilio is back with his third full length tape in the last year or so, 'Life Without Shame' with DJ Green Lantern (and Travis Barker's label Famous Stars & Straps) again. This joint was recorded over a 2-3 week period in Atlanta with some great guests and production. I've only taken a quick listen thus far but from what I heard and saw at A3C in Atlanta recently, this shit is a heater. Cop that free, hit us with your thoughts!
Rae is everywhere these days. Peep the visuals for Travis Barker's ’Give The Drummer Some' album's latest single 'Carry It', also featuring Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine and RZA. The album should drop sometime next year
It's live!
Finally, Cee & Bekah's debut compilation album, 'The Soul Movement Originals' is up and ready to go on iTunes!
We even included an iTunes-only bonus track - 'Livin' This Life' with Toronto's Theology3 and produced by Hustle Beats (Sydney by way of TO) for y'all.
Thanks for all the support thus far. You can still cop the album free via Cee & Bekah's Bandcamp page and donate to Ovarian Cancer Research, but if you want to support us on iTunes we'd love that too.
We're excited to announce we're rocking our first live show outside of Australia this evening in Toronto!
