Thanks, 2009

Melbourne New Years Eve

So, it's New Years Eve, 2009. Damn this year went quick.

It's been a hectic one for the Fam; we inked a deal with Kevin Nottingham's HiPNOTT Records in March; released Cee & Bekah's 'The Soul Movement Volume 3: The Final Chapter' with Mick Boogie & Terry Urban in November; Notion and I lost our grandfather in August; Bekah and I sold our crib; we had the first full, successful calendar year at The Movement Fam blog; we've had dramas, highs, lows and everything in between.

We want to thank EVERYONE for their support of the site and our music all year, it's been phenomenal.

So thank you 2009; it's been real. What the fuck up 2010?? LET'S FUCKING GET IT!

Happy New Year folks!

G.C. on the Beats, Volume 1

The big homie G.C. done came with a special gift for y'all to lead in the new year with...G.C. on the Beats, Volume 1. This is a really solid collection of a bunch of his favourite joints from the various artists he's worked with. Cee & Bekah's 'Ven Aqui' makes an appearance here in full, the only place you can get it for now (until The Soul Movement Originals drops next year)...

From Kev:

"We have one more exclusive mixtape that we are dropping today and this one is a personal fav as it is from the sole producer that I manage.

2009 has been a very productive year for G.C., who we first heard of in our weekly remix contests at KevinNottingham.com. Since then, he has worked with quite a handful of artists, such as MaG, K. Sparks, Trav Williams, Jermiside, and Punchlyne & Fokis. We decided to put together a collection of some of G.C.’s best work thus far. This is G.C. on the Beats, Volume 1!

Any support is greatly appreciated!"

Aaaaaand we're back once again with another model feature - the Aussie's have been reppin' lately! This week, we have the pleasure of introducing a stunning local gal by the name of Carla'Alana Balasso. I stumbled across Carla on Facebook recently, loved what I saw and here she is. Carla is a model about her business, too - and this is what we celebrate here at The Movement Fam: Entrepreneurial, independent young women. Check out the pics and interview!

Cee:

Cee: Can you describe the grind of a model trying to break into the industry?
Carla: It's not easy, and harder than some people think.

Cee: Any words for the ladies out there that have aspirations of entering the modelling industry?
Carla: You have to love who you are and be comfortable and confident to be successful in this industry. It comes with a lot of perks but also a lot of pressure.
