Big ups to the homie Pez. The launch for the video for 'The Festival Song' at Hi-Fi Bar on Friday was off the chain. Dude packed the venue, with crowd surfers, chicks sitting on shoulders and empty bottles as far as the eye could see. Opening act Hailey Cramer was incredible in the first solo set I've seen her rock, and Pez's brother Tys held down the hosting duties. Check the official video below.
It's my pleasure to introduce to you all Ms. Hollywood Don Diva. She represents the streets and D.C. to the fullest in a classy way that only a diva could do. To her, grindin' isn't a thing and is in the game to win. Ms. Don Diva has big plans in 2009, with movie appearances, videos, and much much more. So don't be surprised if you see her on TV or hosting a party at your favorite club. Read below for the interview with Ms. Hollywood Don Diva.
DJ Grain: What’s your name?
Hollywood Don Diva: My name is Janese a.k.a HOLLYWOOD DON DIVA.
DJ Grain: Where are you from?
Hollywood Don Diva: Im from UPTOWN D.C.
DJ Grain: How many years have you been modeling?
Hollywood Don Diva: I've been modeling just for a couple of months, and its been great so far.
DJ Grain: What are the misconceptions people commonly have about models that are untrue?
Hollywood Don Diva: Well, the misconceptions people may have about models like us, especially in the Hip Hop light about it, they may say we fuck to get ahead which many of us don't. We work just as hard as the next person. They may say modelling isn't nothing or it's easy. Well it's not, it's very hard. You have to learn about your face and what looks good and what doesn't. How to hold your pose. Photo shoots that start at 1pm or 2pm, and last all night until 2am or 3am in the morning. It ain't easy, but this is what I do, I love it.
DJ Grain: What shows, videos, magazines, etc. have you been featured in?
Hollywood Don Diva: Well I have not stamped anything just quite yet. There were a couple of big projects I was supposed to have done sometimes business ain't together. Right now I'm just still building my business, and everything. Getting ready to do this big website, where all fans and viewers can come and check up on your girl, read about me, chat with me, purchase some lovely products featuring "The Diva", but right now I'm just updating my Myspace. Which I'm getting so much love from. I've got some videos, and movie parts I'm looking at. For these updates just keep checking my myspace.com/hollywooddondiva. Check out these sites as well.

Hollywood Don Diva: I have worked with Photographer Kennedy the best in D.C., Cody @MkDk MEDIA in MD, Jeffery Martin in Baltimore, and Mike Styles my manager who has also shot me twice in Uptown D.C., and many more.
DJ Grain: What photographers would you like to work with?
Hollywood Don Diva: I would like to work with Photographer Mark Robert Halper, Block2Block magazine, there are a lot of photographers I would love to work with, especially Ed Hardy.
DJ Grain: Can you describe the grind of a model trying to break into the industry?
Hollywood Don Diva: Well, to all young women trying to break through, my advice never let no one take advantage of you, always build a solid foundation which could be a business that you can hold as your own. Stay focus and confident because this is a tough industry.
DJ Grain: Any words for the ladies out there that have aspirations of entering the modeling industry?
Hollywood Don Diva: To any women who love modeling, live it everyday, breathe it, sleep it, eat it. Do it...with class, pride, self dignity, confidence, strong head, focus, and determination. Know your place in this game, and never say I can't.
DJ Grain: How can people contact you for booking?
Hollywood Don Diva: I can be contacted through management team Styles Entertainment Agency - Mike Styles - (202) 277-4283 and/or my email hollywooddondiva@gmail.com, or hit me up on http://www.myspace.com/hollywooddondiva.
This has got to be one of the greatest battles I have ever seen, period.
Shouts to the homie Kev for putting me onto this brilliant vocalist from Toronto.
Melanie Fiona is signed to SRC Records (Steve Rifkin's new label), and her debut album The Bridge should be dropping in a few months time.
Check the links below, particularly the Artist Spotlight on Kevin Nottingham.com. There's a great video there too, as well as a dope article with all the info. Oh and check the track in the video below.
Here's a little something to get your weekend going. Two mixtapes of material from Filipino-American super producer Illmind, mixed by DJ DUB MD. If you haven't heard of Illmind, don't worry, these two mixtapes will get you up to speed. They are made up of joints he has produced over the last couple of years for emcees ranging from Skyzoo and Torae to LL Cool J and 50 Cent. Back covers are also included below so you know what's in store, but really there's something for everyone on here, so get to downloading!
So, once again, the homie Deez has lead me in the direction of hot broads.
The homie Clint (of The Movement Fam.com blog fame) hit me with the TV series 30 Rock, which I've been enjoying of late. Shit is hilarious. It's basically a sitcom set on the cast and crew of an NBC TV show in New York, featuring most of the cast of SNL, including one Miss Tina Fey.
Not only did I fail to notice her sexiness, I pretty much completely ignored it due to the nerdiness of her character in the show. But Deez hit me with these pics, and boom, I'm on the bandwagon. Check these babies out and click the pics to visit various Tina Fey related sites.
I dont really need to say much here, just OH. MY. GOD. Once again our dude from Inverse, Tunji, has blessed all of our ears again with yet another incredible freestyle for www.vimeo.com.
Tunji NEW CLASSICS freestyle from gregthedude on Vimeo.
Just watch it and admire.
MAKE SURE YOU COP THE "SO TRUE - EP" by "Inverse". Dope x10.
Peace yo

OK, this is not anything new, but a buddy of mine spoke about it the other day and I couldn't stop laughing. The imagery that was going on in my minds eye made me laugh out loud like a little kid does when he hears a dirty word or hears a fart...haha farts are funny...
Anyway, a merkin is a pubic wig, usually made from hair of some sort. I'm not too sure how much real human hair you'd want down there, unless it was yours but then that would defeat the purpose of wearing the merkin. So on second thought, if I was one of those people in need of some extra hair down there, I suppose you'd wear some pre-owned pubes.
And this brings me to another point. It seems the fashion these days is to be 'clean skin' so to speak, or have your, ahem, hair styled into some shape or at least be trimmed. I don't think it would get to the point where you have people getting designer styles and cross fades into their junk, but hey anything is possible. So what becomes then of those unfortunate who can't grow hair? Without the merkin they'd be destined to look like pre-pubescent teenagers, which could possibly pose a moral implication for their lovers.
But without merkins, there would be more R rated movies and less stars would get their 'kit' off for the camera. They use merkins in the movie biz quite a lot to hide actors special bits, so that they can get the shot without showing too much, which would then lead to harsher classifications. More R rated movies means that less of the world's teenagers wouldn't be able to see all the B grade movie tit flicks that we all got to watch.
You see, merkins have a higher purpose. Not only do they keep our bits and bobs warm, they also ensure that our younger generation doesn't miss out on the classic movies that we could see such as The Revenge Of The Nerds, the Porkies series, Screwballs, Meatballs series, and many more. Like I said, the merkin has a higher purpose...
Araab Muzik is working the MPC like a mad man....I think he would give Exile a run for his money.
Be on the look out for the interview with her next week.
Alright. I'm in love.
In my humble opinion, Indian women are the hottest in the world. When an Indian woman is smokin' hot, nothing compares. The sensuality, the deep brown, almond eyes, slender figures, dark hair, chocolate brown skin...goddamn.
So on the recommendation of the homie Deez, Bekah and I caught the new movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' the other night. The flick itself was brilliant, makes us wanna hit up India bad. But a beautiful side effect of the movie was the incredibly gorgeous actress who plays Latika. I made sure to wait until the credits before bouncing, and the lovely young lady's name is Freida Pinto.
I ain't got to say no more. Check the flicks. I linked them each to various Freida sites for your viewing and reading pleasure. Enjoy.

Aight, so I told you the homie GNZ was gonna post another free full length album today. And he did.
This one is entitled 'Rimando' and features 13 original tracks. Goddamn. I seriously don't know where he finds the time to bang out this much quality material. Check GNZ's blog for all the links to his back catalogue.
2009 has been off to a great start so far. All this beef has to end, there is so much right now you could stock McDonald's for five years. Everybody around the world has been suffering from the bad economic times and even folks in the music industry have been hit hard by the scams and scandals.
DMX has been sentenced to 90 Days in an Arizona jail. He received the sentence as a result of his long list of convictions that include theft, drug possession and cruelty to animals.
50 Cent has released a Rick Ross diss track after Rick dissed him on a track untitled "Mafia Music". I will keep you all tuned into any updates on this situation.
Violator's own Chris Lighty was a victim in Bernie Madoff's $50 billion Ponzi scheme. Up to now, there have even been rumors that said that 50 Cent, one of his clients had lost millions to Madoff. Nothing has been confirmed so I will leave that as a rumour. Lighty would not elaborate on any details of his dealing with Madoff.
Upcoming rapper Charles Hamilton has been going at a lot of rappers as of late. He went at label mate Soulja Boy, Serius Jones, and more recently Rhymefest. Rhymefest struck back hard with the track 'SuperSonic' and well, you all need to do is listen to it. Why he is attacking all these rappers, nobody knows.
Well, 'til next week...take care and I got more news next week.
Peace,
Grain.

Y'all might remember our recent artist feature on Brazillian MC GNZ.
Well, you also might recall us mentioning his prolificness (that ain't a word, apparently). Dude has just dropped a brand new album, entitled Porém, which has 19 tracks! And its a FREE download! Crikey. Can't beat that value.
GNZ also informs me that there's another album going up for free download tonight as well, so I'll be sure to post that as soon as it goes up.
Yes, yes, we're back again with yet another stunning model feature. This week, we met with none other than the lovely Cherry Black, an accomplished, intelligent young lady from New York who is truly on her hustle.
Cee: Where are you from?
Cherry Black: The Bronx, NY.
Cee: How many years have you been modeling?
Cherry Black: One.
Cee: What are the misconceptions people commonly have about models that are untrue?
Cherry Black: A lot of people seem to think that because I am always in front of the camera that I like to be the center of attention, but that’s not true all the time. I much rather stay in the background.
Cee: What shows, videos, magazines, etc. have you been featured in?
Cherry Black:

Cee: What photographers would you like to work with?
Cherry Black: My list is way too long lol.
Cee: Can you describe the grind of a model trying to break into the industry?
Cherry Black: It’s a struggle to stay true to who you are while at the same time being marketable. There are a lot of shady people in this business, so it's vital to make good choices.
Cee: Any words for the ladies out there that have aspirations of entering the modeling industry?
Cherry Black: Stand Out!! Go against the grain!! Quality is more important quantity!!
Cee: What's your plans from here?
Cherry Black: I'm looking to establish myself more with the commercial end of modeling. Hopefully soon you will see me in commercials and billboards!!
I am straight up in love with Jazmine Sullivan.
'Lions, Tigers & Bears' is the latest single off her debut album, 'Fearless'. Caught this video on Kev's site, had to re-post as it was in my Top 10 Best Songs of 2008 list, courtesy of the homie Sean Deez posting his review in the first place and putting me on. This chick is the future.
