Kanye & his Louis Vuitton kicks.... What y'all think??

Sneaker pimps, what do y'all think of this collabo with LV & 'Ye? I personally thought WTF on first sight, but its a retro "Back to the Future" Reebok look I reckon... and at $600+ beans too, I'm not sure how many consumers gon' dig that. I certainly don't. I can imagine him making a packet off this lil venture either way!

A Taste of HiPNOTT Records - Sampler

Oh it's on now! The biggest thing to happen to The Movement Fam this year was being signed to Kevin Nottingham's HiPNOTT Records. So now that we mufuckin' offishall, Kev done put together a nice sampler of what y'all can expect from us. Peep game and get your DL on and spread the word! From Kev:

"Ever since I announced the formation of my new label, HiPNOTT Records, I have been wanting to give you all a "taste" of what's to come. The music really is THAT GOOD... and the music is the sole reason I put the label together.

So I compiled a sampler, if you will, of music from all the artists currently on my roster. Some tracks are brand new and being premiered here first, while others are some of the best that these artists have had in their vaults.

At any rate, A Taste of HiPNOTT should give you a good idea of what the label will sound like and what's to come this year.

Don't forget to visit us at www.hipnottrecords.com for more music!

In addition, anyone that's in the L.A. area, I'm gonna head out there this weekend for Nobody Famous' album release party. So if you're in the area and wanna hang, check the attached flyer! Any promotion of the party is appreciated also..."

Inverse - Keys to the City - LA from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

The homies Inverse (what up Tunj?) done did their thing on the latest Keys To The City. Peep the description:

"Inverse gives you an insider's tour of the finer restaurants that populate the City of Angels such as Tito’s Tacos and IN-N-OUT Burger, all while shedding some light on their backstory. As Los Angeles brims with the talented new voices it’s inspired, Inverse takes the lead and treats us to a set of fresh acapellas. If you like what you hear, cop the So True EP on iTunes or Amazon and support independent artists."

Model Feature: Erica R

Erica Rutledge is a 26 year old college student who also models for fun and exposure. Currently, she is a Health Science student, but will start nursing school within a year. Erica already has a Bachelor's from the University of South Carolina in Broadcast Journalism. Erica works for the state full-time and part-time at her local mall. In her spare time, Erica enjoys shopping, traveling, exercising, cooking, and watching Lifetime Movie Network. Something that you may not know about this bombshell is that she can speak French and she is West Indian, African American, and Native American.

DJ Grain: What’s your name?
Erica: Erica R.

DJ Grain: Where are you from?
Erica: I'm from all over. I am a military brat, so I consider myself from everywhere. My father was in the Air Force. We traveled as far as Panama, and we were stationed in Columbus, MS. Then, we were stationed lastly in Charleston AFB, SC. Originally, I am from Montevallo, Alabama, and I was born in Montgomery, Alabama.

DJ Grain: How many years have you been modeling?
Erica: I have modeled ever since 1998 in fashion shows and stuff. But, I started to be serious about it after I graduated from college in 2004 with a Bachelor's in Journalism.

DJ Grain: What are the misconceptions people commonly have about models that are untrue?
Erica: Well, some people are stupid enough to think that we're all stuck up and that we're loose which is so untrue. I do know of some models that fit that criteria, but I am totally opposite. Some people also think that we strip or that we do escort services...lol! I am sort of nerdy but sexy at the same time.

DJ Grain: What shows, videos, magazines, etc. have you been featured in?
Erica: I was featured mainly in magazines, like Sweets Magazine, Source Magazine, Don Diva Magazine, CandiJewels Magazine, BET.com's B-Girl web feature, Seagram's Gin 2008 Calendar Feature Model, and Fyne Dymez 2008 Lingerie Magazine feature. I was in an old underground music video called, "Say What" a few years back, but I don't think it ever made it to BET as promised :(. I do want to be in more videos, however, I live in South Carolina and all of the videos are shot in Atlanta. I do plan to make a trip to some auditions in between school and work.

DJ Grain: What photographers have you worked with?
Erica: The wonderful Shawn Dowdell, Energetice Scott Krause, talented Majiq (David Blayne) from PhotoMajiq, Emanuel Photo, arsty and bizarre Kevin Stewart, Atlanta's own Paul Lawson, Glenn from Complex Photo, David from Visual Cocktail, and nice ole-Martin Drysdale.

DJ Grain: What photographers would you like to work with?
Erica: I would like to work with Maya Guez, Jarek James, Craig Sims, Frank Antonio, Leo Marshall, Raquel Riley Thomas, Craig Huey, Laurens Antoine, and the list can go on and on!

DJ Grain: Can you describe the grind of a model trying to break into the industry?
Erica: Someone who plasters themselves all over MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Also one who creates a website to market themselves. Honestly, I kinda slack up on my grind, because of school. I'm pursing a career in nursing and it takes up all my time. But I do communicate with my fans online via my personal website www.experienceerica.com and on www.myspace.com/ericarutledge.

DJ Grain: Any words for the ladies out there that have aspirations of entering the modeling industry?
Erica: My advice for aspiring models is to think smart and stay away from "too good to be true" offers! I was scammed once, so I learned my lesson. I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through the same thing that I experienced. Also, beware of some men that claim they are professional photographers, because a lot of them are just trying to get a quick nut. It's sad, but it's true. Oh yea...also ladies need to understand that if they want to be taken seriously in the business that they must have perfect photos. In order to be booked, clients like to see photos that show the "real" you and they have to be professional, unless if they only want a recent snapshot. So, aspiring models should invest in a good photoshoot. They won't have to drop a grand for a photo shoot, but somewhere in between $250-$500 for a credible one.

DJ Grain: How can people contact you for booking?
Erica: If anyone is interested in booking, they should contact me at my website www.experienceerica.com or at caramelledfancy@gmail.com. Also, they can go by and add me as a friend on www.myspace.com/ericarutledge.

It's Homo Tuesday!

So you're gonna just sit there, press play, and enjoy what might just be the gayest Prince song ever. It's also my favourite, right now at least. I couldn't find the actual music video anywhere, but that probably doesn't have Prince rocking pink fur. Sure, he'd probably be wearing something just as homo but the peacocking (look it up) definitely got him lots of pussy. Penis too.

Alright I'll be honest... I think Prince is actually comparing a romantic man/woman relationship to a platonic woman/woman relationship. It's still gay. I still love it.

And all the above is acceptable for me (and anyone else) to say on Homo Tuesday. Thanks for reading.

50 Cent To Drop "Street Album" on the 23rd

50 Cent says he's dropping a project called War Angel next Tuesday on ThisIs50.com. According to 50, the War Angel LP is more a street album than a mixtape.

“When you hear it, out of all the material I put on the street, you’re gonna say that’s the best body of work I put out in the mixtape circuit, period," he told MTV. "The way the mood of music is right now, when they hear what this is, they’ll say, ‘That’s what we needed.’"

50 Cent also announced more projects coming.
“I have two other tapes to follow it,” he revealed. “Fourth of July, Sincerely Southside Part 2 coming out with mostly ’90s music on it. Timeless music, classic hit records. Then, after that, there’s a G-Unit mixtape. It’s actually untitled. I’ll be finished with it in the next day or so.”

Here's 50 Cent talking about the project - Watch out for the TRIPPER intro.. lol

Nobody Famous + Dasha: Don't Act Like I Never Told You Part 2‏

Nobody Famous and Dasha

"Don't Act Like I Never Told You" from Nobody Famous has been doing extremely well since we released the single/video three weeks ago on HiPNOTT Records. Over 40 blogs/websites picked it up and I want to personally thank all of you for its success. As announced last week, Order Up! Volume 3 now has an official release date of July 28.

The next leak off the album is the official remix, "Don't Act Like I Didn't Tell You Part 2", featuring the lovely, talented Dasha. It's more or less an answer record to the original song. Dasha is currently putting the finishing touches on her debut EP, which is totally produced by G.C. You should hear that before the end of the summer, which will lead up to her debut album this fall.

And let's not forget the remix contest we held for "Don't Act Like I Never Told You." Over 30 remixes were submitted, with all different types of styles. Ultimately we decided on the remix from Dario as the official B-Side to "Don't Act Like I Never Told You Part 2". Congratulations Dario and thanks to everyone who participated! Don't forget, you can still purchase the original version via iTunes and Amazon.com.

Nickelus F / Portishead - R.A.R.E. (Reliving A Real Experience)

If you have even a passing interest in both Hip Hop and Trip Hop you need to check out the sampler for this new project.

Nickelus F from Richmond, VA, has used some of his favourite Portishead tracks as inspiration for his latest musical creation. He adds well placed verses which only serve to add to the musical trip Portishead already took us on. Nickelus F really nails each track on this sampler. Can't wait for the full release.
