Jermiside & Danny Diggs: Afraid (feat Maverick Sabre) (video)

The homie Jermiside has been at it for a minute. Part of the Lessondary crew with Tanya Morgan, the ATL resident (via Cincinatti) has been putting in major work, and now he's about to drop his album with Irish producer Danny Diggs, 'Middle Classic', on HiPNOTT Records.

Check the press release:

"Afraid", featuring Irish singer Maverick Sabre, is presented visually in this stunning video that was written, directed, and edited by Ilyas (of Tanya Morgan). The song itself is an excellent example of the type of feel good hip hop Middle Classic represents as a whole.

HiPNOTT RECORDS 2010 TAKEOVER VOLUME 2 MIXTAPE‏

Oh yes!! We made it! Check Volume 2 of the highly acclaimed HiPNOTT Records Takeover 2010 mixtape series, featuring The Movement Fam's G.C. produced banger 'Seasons Change'. Download it FREE below!

HiPNOTT Records delivers Vol. 2 of their two-part 2010 Takeover free download mixtape series. Presented by HIPHOPDX.com and KevinNottingam.com, this 22-track lyrically driven hip-hop montage is skillfully mixed by DJ Mark-1, who also created the intro, and displays a combination of emerging label signees alongside several hip-hop heavyweights. While Vol. 1 hit listeners with an aggressive trunk worthy hip-hop energy, Vol. 2 provides its antithesis with a more laid back, thought provoking, headphone hip-hop sound.

HiPNOTT Records 2010 Takeover Vol. 2 talent includes ArtOfficial, Amor Jones, DXA, Emilio Rojas, Epsilon Project, Hawdwerk & Jansport J, L.E.G.A.C.Y., Mach Five, MaG, Stevie Crooks, and Tunji of the group Inverse, as well as HiPNOTT artists Cymarshall Law, Has-Lo, E Reece, Spectec & Amiri, Jermiside & Danny Diggs, WEB and The Movement Fam (Cee & Bekah, Notion, Tommy Gunnz).

“The artists that we work with and those signed to HiPNOTT have the same things in common -- they want to be put on, they want the masses to hear their voice, they want to share their story,” HiPNOTT Records COO, Kareem Fort said. “We created the 2010 Takeover mixtapes to showcase a variety of artists who each have their own unique interpretation of what hip hop is to them, and we stand behind their perspective 100%.”

Melbourne New Years Eve

So, it's New Years Eve, 2009. Damn this year went quick.

It's been a hectic one for the Fam; we inked a deal with Kevin Nottingham's HiPNOTT Records in March; released Cee & Bekah's 'The Soul Movement Volume 3: The Final Chapter' with Mick Boogie & Terry Urban in November; Notion and I lost our grandfather in August; Bekah and I sold our crib; we had the first full, successful calendar year at The Movement Fam blog; we've had dramas, highs, lows and everything in between.

We want to thank EVERYONE for their support of the site and our music all year, it's been phenomenal.

So thank you 2009; it's been real. What the fuck up 2010?? LET'S FUCKING GET IT!

Happy New Year folks!

Press Release: HiPNOTT Records Signs Cymarshall Law & K. Sparks‏

Cymarshall Law & K. Sparks‏

Aight folks, so here's an update from the boss on new developments for HiPNOTT Records. Gonna be a MASSIVE year in 2010! Check out the updated HiPNOTT website too...

HiPNOTT Records Signs Cymarshall Law & K. Sparks

Miami, FL, November 29, 2009 - As with any new record label in their first year, 2009 has been a slow start for HiPNOTT Records. But that's not to say that it hasn't been productive! As we look into 2010, HiPNOTT Records is already looking to make its mark on the map and the hip hop world. And we'll be kicking the year off right with two brand new artists on our roster: Cymarshall Law and K. Sparks.

Cymarshall Law has been working harder than ever in 2009, since the release of his highly acclaimed album with Mr. Joeker, Hip Hop In The Soul. Released just a year ago, the album has received rave reviews from top hip hop sites such as Okayplayer and Hip Hop Linguistics. Cymarshall Law has also been recognized by peers such as Talib Kweli, who has said, "Cymarshall Law represents the best hip hop has to offer his energy and passion is refreshing in todays climate" and EMC's Wordworth, "Cymarshall Law has his own flow and originality that Hip Hop lacks plus lyrics."

On January 19th, Cymarshall Law will be releasing his first project on HiPNOTT Records; Creator's Kid EP. The 7 track EP is solely produced by D. Slaps, with the exception of one track produced by Remot. Creator's Kid showcases some of Cymarshall Law's best work to date and includes features from DJ JS-1, Silent Knight, Skit Slam, and Mary Lou. To give you a taste, we are dropping the first single today, "Harder Than Thou" featuring DJ JS-1.

Quite possibly the hardest working emcee of 2009, K. Sparks is scheduled to release his HiPNOTT debut in February 2010. Probably best known for his Manic Monday series, in which he released a new song every Monday for 52 weeks straight, K. Sparks has also released a countless number of mixtapes/albums this past year. With his hard work ethic and dedication, signing Sparks to HiPNOTT was a no-brainer.

As for K. Sparks' upcoming project, it's still too early to release all the details. Tentatively titled, A Day in the Life, the album will be solely produced by HiPNOTT producer G.C., who just recently released his $5 Cover project with emcee MaG.

Both albums will be available next year on iTunes and all other digital outlets, such as Amazon and eMusic. Check out the newly updated hipnottrecords.com where you can read more about Cymarshall Law and K. Sparks, as well as hear music from all of the label's artists.

Cee & Bekah - The Soul Movement Volume 3

Big shouts to Christie Eliezer from TheMusic.com.au for featuring The Movement Fam in his music industry blog, Industrial Strength, which is in the Top 10 Music Industry blogs in the world. Christie spoke about The Fam getting signed to HiPNOTT Records in the USA, the recent projects from Cee & Bekah, upcoming projects from Notion and our distribution deal shopping spree. The look was much appreciated!

Also, anyone in Australia can find the mention in any given street press magazine around the country.

Cee & Bekah - The Soul Movement Volume 3: The Final Chapter OUT NOW!

Cee & Bekah - The Soul Movement Volume 3: The Final Chapter

So it's here. Finally. Over a year's worth of work has culminated in Cee & Bekah's third and final mixtape (before venturing into EP's, albums and wherever else their musical journey takes them), 'The Soul Movement Volume 3: The Final Chapter'.

After working with the biggest names in Australia on their last mixtapes, there was nowhere left to go but the USA. Cee & Bekah linked up with Mick Boogie and Terry Urban, respected American DJs who have produced, mixed and hosted official mixtapes for the likes of Kanye West, Little Brother, Skyzoo and Idle Warship (Talib Kweli, Res, Graph Nobel), and critically acclaimed mash up mixtapes with Adele and Jay-Z/Coldplay.

This is our first release since being signed to Miami, FL based blogger Kevin Nottingham's label, HiPNOTT Records, so this is a very exciting time for The Movement Fam.

'The Soul Movement Volume 3: The Final Chapter' is a landmark release for Australian 'urban' artists (a term Cee & Bekah don't like to use, as they coined their own genre, 'Soul Hop'), as no other artist in this genre has even attempted a mixtape of this scope, let alone made it happen.

Download the mixtape for FREE from Cee & Bekah's Bandcamp page, and grab a copy of Volume 1 and 2 if you haven't already.

The Movement is here!

For the next leak, we bring you “Too Dope,” featuring The Understudies from the San Fransisco Bay area. If the beat sounds familiar, it should, as they go in over the Black Milk banger “Motown 25″ (originally done by Elzhi and Royce Da 5′9).

New Single From Nobody Famous - "Mary" (featuring Wax)

Nobody Famous feat Wax - Mary

Man, HiPNOTT seriously do not quit. I'm on the label and I'm surprised at how much shit is happening for such a young company. Love it. The homie Nobody Famous is at it again, peep the official details below but we got some more free shit for ya...

Thanks for your continued support for Nobody Famous... today we are unleashing the third single from the album Order Up! Vol 3 in our Digi 12" format. Cover is attached and details are below:

Released a little over a month ago, Order Up! Volume 3: Chicken and Waffles has proved to be a favorite among the fans. Thank you to those who have supported the album thus far. With this album, Nobody Famous has shown that he can tackle virtually every genre of urban music, as his production style varies from one track to the next. Today we are releasing (free to the public), the third promotional single from the album, “Mary” featuring L.A. emcee Wax. This is the second track Nobody Famous and Wax have paired up for; the first being last year’s “Famous’ Laboratory.”

If you remember back in February of this year, an early version of “Mary” was leaked during our promotional campaign for Order Up! Volume 3. That version used a sample-based instrumental, produced by Nobody Famous. The subject of Wax’s lyrics were so powerful and the delivery was so emotional, that Nobody Famous felt compelled to go back to the studio and recompose the beat from scratch. The result is this sample-free epic composition that made it onto Order Up! Vol 3.

“Mary” is an amazing song with an incredible story and a beat that builds and builds with every bar. Grab the Digi 12″ below and if you still have not checked out Order Up! Volume 3, download your copy now!

1. Mary [Album Version]
2. Mary [Instrumental]
3. Mary [Acapella]
4. Keep It Movin’ (Live w/ Pinot Funk) [Bonus B-Side]
